At the Heart of Imaging

State-of-the-art imaging software and technology are enhancing cardiovascular care with precision.

With the help of philanthropy, the Jeffrey M. Carlton Heart & Vascular Institute has implemented the latest imaging technology to support patients. Using optical coherence tomography (OCT) intravascular imaging, powered by artificial intelligence and automation, Hoag is enhancing the technology used to treat patients receiving coronary stents. These images provide additional information on the degree and characteristics of coronary artery disease and guide stent implantation. Also elevating cardiovascular care at Hoag is the state-of-the-art Siemens SOMATOM Force  computed tomography scanner at Hoag Health Center Newport Beach. Hoag was the first hospital in Orange County to invest in the Siemens SOMATOM Force CT scanner in 2017. This newer model includes powerful dual X-ray tubes, an infrared camera for optimal patient positioning, and artificial intelligence algorithms to assist in diagnosis.
